Respond to the Needs of Our Neighbors

Our community is so blessed! We have wonderful organizations like the Good Samaritan Center, Needs Council, Fredericksburg Food Pantry, the new Grace Center and others to meet the needs of our neighbors.

The role that the Christian Job Corps of Gillespie County and Job Resource Center holds in our community has led me to meditate on the Lord’s Prayer. While orienting our heart and will toward Him, the Lord’s Prayer also invites us to be a part of His plans.

Because of your partnership, CJCGC helps interns and clients look past the problems of today and tomorrow toward the plans God has for each man and woman (Jeremiah 29:11). Daily struggles with health, food insecurity, housing and others cause many to miss or to take their eyes off God’s plan. The Lord’s Prayer and Matthew 6:33 explains, “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

As we plan for 2021, CJCGC seeks to employ at least 15 women and men through our 10-week job preparation internship to develop and pursue a custom vocational plan for a sustainable career. To further our outreach through the Job Resource Center, we will increase marketing efforts while adding staff and remote locations to better serve our neighbors across Gillespie County. And finally, we are renewing efforts and exploring how to outreach to our local jail population in a world under a pandemic.
